Index to Design Group Reports

The following are Design Group reports that have appeared in The Leading Edge, newsletter of Chapter 1000. Except where noted, these articles are the original work of members of Chapter 1000. The Design Group was headed up by Vern Blomquist, but fell into an inactive status at a time roughly corresponding to his departure to form EAA Chapter 1000 Det 3. Occasionally, Vern still sends in some intriguing thoughts to consider.

March 1992 - Discussions of the Chapter 1000 Tower Flyby Device and an aluminum block V-12 engine.

April 1992 - Vern's review of DesignCAD 3-D

May 1992 - Thoughts on combining a moped with an ultralight

June 1992 - An intriguing hinge design with possibilities for flaps and other moving parts

July - September 1992 - A listing of useful publications and catalogs

September 1992 - Natural Laminar Flow airfoils and CONTACT! magazine

June 1993 - Grow your own wing spar with genetically engineered wood?

August 1993 - How about "The Ideal Aircraft Engine"?

March 1994 - Thoughts on low-cost, quick-build airplane

Winglets - Why adding winglets to your Q-200 isn't really a good idea

Bearhawk Non-Modifications - A discussion of Design Propagation Nightmare, or why you should just build the airplane the way it was designed

The Joys of Major Modifications - Brian cuts the aft wing off of his Q-200 and reattaches it at a different incidence angle
